Sydney FC Appoints Kisnorbo On Three Year Deal

Sydney FC have confirmed the appointment of Patrick Kisnorbo as Isuzu-UTE A-League Men’s Head Coach on a three-season deal.

The Sydney FC Board unanimously agreed Kisnorbo as the standout candidate to lead the club into its next era following a comprehensive review of the Head Coach position.

The extensive, two-month process assessed over 20 candidates with the club’s football committee interviewing a shortlist of from Australia and overseas.

The 45-year old has one of the strongest coaching resumes in Australian football.

He won back-to-back A-League Men’s Premierships in 2021 and 2022, including an A-League Championship double in 2021 and A-League Men’s Coach of the Year.

Since taking charge in March, he has had a significant impact guiding the Sky Blues to the A-League Grand Final in an unbeaten run, while conceding just four goals.

Sydney FC Chairman Dr Jan Hendrik Voss said the appointment reflected the club’s long-term ambitions to bring sustained success.

“Patrick has impressed us enormously throughout the review process and during his time at the club,” he said.

“He is a proven winner, he understands the A-League competition and the Australian and Asian football landscape.

“He has already demonstrated he can lift standards, performances and belief across the football club.

Kisnorbo said he was honoured to be entrusted with leading Australia’s most successful football club.

“It is a huge honour to be appointed Head Coach of Sydney FC for the next three seasons,” he said.

“This is a massive football club with a proud history and strong ambition and I want the Members and fans to see a group that is humble and works hard.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with the players over the past six weeks and they have responded exceptionally well to everything we’ve asked of them.

“There is an exciting future ahead for this football club and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”

The former Socceroo has also coached in Japan and France and enjoyed a distinguished playing career with South Melbourne, Hearts, Leeds United, Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Melbourne City.

He will take charge of Sydney FC in a record-equalling eighth Grand Final appearance on Saturday, as the club aims to win a record-extending 6th A-League Men’s Championship.
