Sydney FC Announce Executive Restructure

Sydney FC CEO Mark Aubrey Steps Down After Two Years

Sydney FC today confirmed a restructure of its executive leadership, with Chief Executive Officer Mark Aubrey stepping down after two years in the role.

The decision follows a management restructure process undertaken jointly by the Board and the CEO, aimed at repositioning the club to further leverage the significant skillset within the boardroom, and support the club in an increasingly global football market opportunity.

As part of the restructure, Sydney FC’s commercial and football divisions will connect directly to the Board via dedicated sub-committees, ensuring stronger governance and a more proactive, hands-on link to the club leadership.

The new model enables the Club to draw directly on the diverse expertise of its directors across areas such as international business, finance, technology, brand, legal, professional football, and strategic growth.

Executive Vice Chairman Sebastian Gray will act as the primary conduit between the club’s executive team and the Board.

Sydney FC Chairman Dr Jan Hendrik Voss said the restructure is both a difficult decision and a significant opportunity:

“We are very excited about the future and this decision creates a more dynamic structure that draws on the significant skills of our directors, ensuring a more direct impact on the Club’s growth,” he said.

“It builds on the restructure of our Board in June and continues our journey to establish Sydney FC as a globally recognised football organisation.

“Mark has been an excellent CEO, I want to thank him for his invaluable contributions over the past two years and the incredible professionalism and selfless dedication to the future of Sydney FC.

“With the expertise of our Board more closely connected to the Club than ever before, there is exciting work already underway to strengthen our football division, elevate our commercial partnerships and fan experiences, and expand our international reach.”

Mark Aubrey, who was part of this decision-making process, will remain for the next month to provide a detailed handover.

Reflecting on his time in the role Aubrey said:

“It was an incredible privilege for me to lead this great Club and team over the past two years and I am proud of our achievements.

“There is so much opportunity ahead for Sydney FC and I wish the Club and Board every success in the future as I cheer on from the sidelines.”
