Sydney FC & AFC Asian Cup 2015 Join Forces

The Korean Soccer Association in Australia (KSAA), Sydney FC and the AFC Asian Cup 2015 are combining this Sunday (19 May 2013) to stage a Five-A-Side football tournament to help promote the Harmony through Football Program and the AFC Asian Cup 2015.

The Korean Soccer Association in Australia (KSAA), Sydney FC and the AFC Asian Cup 2015 are combining this Sunday (19 May 2013) to stage a Five-A-Side football tournament to help promote the Harmony through Football Program and the AFC Asian Cup 2015.

The inaugural Sydney FC Korean Futsal Cup will see 16 teams from KSAA competitions, which boasts 50 teams nation-wide, battle it out at the Golden Goal Centre of Excellence in Ryde from 9am-4pm.

“We-re proud to continue with our support of the 2013 Harmony Day projects by joining forces with the Korean Soccer Association in Australia and the AFC Asian Cup 2015,” said Sydney FC CEO Tony Pignata. “Football has the power to unite people from all backgrounds and this tournament allows Sydney FC to assist with this important program.”

The tournament is being staged as part of Harmony Day – Australia-s annual celebration of Cultural Diversity which was celebrated on 21 March 2013 with this year-s theme being: “Many Stories – One Australia. We all make up the pages of a bigger Australia and we all have a story to tell.”

AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 Local Organising Committee CEO, Michael Brown will be in attendance for the finals and the trophy presentation at approximately 4pm.

The Sydney FC Korean Futsal Cup is a joint initiative between the Korean Soccer Association in Australia, Sydney FC, the AFC Asian Cup 2015 and Football Federation Australia-s Harmony through Football Program, proudly supported by the Department of Regional Australia, Local Government, Arts and Sport, SBS, Department of Immigration and Citizenship and Red Elephant Projects.
