Sydney FC has accepted the eight match suspension handed to defender Tiago Calvano by the Football Federation Australia (FFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC).

The Brazilian was charged with unsporting conduct towards a match official following an incident in the 25th minute of Sydney FC-s game against Melbourne Victory in round five of the Hyundai A-League.

Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata said: “We are obviously disappointed to lose Tiago for eight games but we accept the decision of the disciplinary committee.

“In hindsight Tiago admits he made a wrong decision and accepts his punishment. However we still believe what he did was in no way malicious.

“He is a passionate man by his nature and plays the game in that way.”

Tiago will become available for Sydney FC-s next game against Melbourne Victory in the round 16 Australia Day (January 26) clash at Etihad Stadium.
