Pascal Bosschaart says he-s determined to recover from Achilles surgery in time for Sydney FC-s first game of the 2012/13 season.
The Dutchman had an operation on Monday after rupturing his right Achilles tendon in the Elimination Final defeat to Wellington on Friday night.
“I felt good after it,” said the defender. “The operation went well. He [the surgeon] fixed everything and said it would also make me faster, ha ha, so that-s another positive thing.
“I-m in a cast for 2 weeks and I have to wear a boot for 6 or 7 weeks and then I can start my recovery at 9 weeks, so until then I can do nothing.”
Bosschaart faces a long time out of action following the two hour surgery and says he wants to make sure his recovery is right.
“It-s complicated with the Achilles. It-s going to take me at least 5 or 6 months,” he said.
“The only positive thing is that the first match is in 6 to 7 months. Hopefully I can make it and I will do my best to make it, but I don-t want to put a time limit on it because everyone is different.
“I want to go back to Holland to my family, to rest a bit and start my recovery there. It-s going to take a while so I think I need a break to also get my mind clear.”
