Sydney FC Westfield W-League star Elizabeth Ralston believes the Sky Blues are getting on a roll now with back to back wins under their belt, following Saturday’s #BigBlue triumph at Cromer Park.
Ralston was a rock at the back and a big reason for the Sky Blues’ first clean sheet on Saturday, as she said the squad is now gelled and ready for the remainder of the 2017/18 season.
“I think we’re starting to come together a bit more as a team, it took a few games for us to gel and get to know each other,” she said.
“We’ve got ourselves a bit of momentum now and I think those last two wins are a sign of what’s ahead for the rest of the season.
“The last couple of weeks we’ve been really working on not conceding. We’ve worked on our defensive shape and off set pieces and in the air so we were really happy with the clean sheet on Saturday.
“I always cherish every opportunity I get to play for Sydney FC,” she continued.
“It’s the only club I’ve ever played for and I’m really grateful to continue to have that opportunity to be on the pitch every week.”
Head Coach Ante Juric was equally pleased with Saturday’s result but stressed this was just the start.
“I’m happy with the clean sheet, happy with the win but there’s still room for improvement.”
Sydney FC will be looking to continue their winning form as they face Western Sydney Wanderers in the #SydneyDerby at ANZ Stadium (kick off 5pm AEDT). Follow @SydneyFC on Twitter for updates from the clash.
