Sky Blues Too Good For Mt Druitt

Sydney FC’s PlayStation 4 NPL NSW 2 Mens side continued their good early season form with a resounding 5-1 win against Mt Druitt Rangers at Lambert Park on Saturday night.

It took Sydney just nine minutes to unlock the Mt Druitt defence when a precision pass from midfield dynamo Daniel Araujo was threaded through to Bai Antoniou, who outpaced the backline and slotted home with a calm finish to give Sydney an early 1-0 lead.

As in previous weeks the young Sky Blues dominated possession and shifted the ball nicely on the Lambert Park surface.

It was only good keeping by the Mt Druitt custodian that kept Sydney at bay until Charles Lokoli-Ngoy headed home the second on the 26 minute mark after good lead up work by Chris Zuvela.

The teams went to the break with Sydney FC holding a 2-0 margin.

The second half started well for the home team as Antoniou was again on hand to slip the ball under the diving keeper following a delightful pass from substitute Aaron Avery to extend the lead to 3-0.

The frustration grew for the opposition as four yellow cards were dished out by the referee.

Lokoli-Ngoy, who caused Mt Druitt all sorts of headaches with his strength and pace, also grabbed a brace to make it 4-0 when he side footed home a cut back from Nicola Kuleski.

Captain Yianni Spyrakis made it 5-0 when he found himself unmarked at the back post to head in his first goal of the NPL campaign.

Mt Druitt grabbed a late consolation goal through former Sydney FC NYL player Luke Clifford, but the damage had already been done with Sydney FC running out 5-1 winners to move to third spot on the ladder.
