Sky Blue Thrashing A Statement Says Foord

Sydney FC hat-trick hero Caitlin Foord believes Sunday’s massive win at Seymour Shaw is a statement to the league that shows the true character of Head Coach Ante Juric’s side.

Winless since Round 1, the Sky Blues were clinical in their finishing as they put five goals beyond a hapless Roar, with Foord nabbing a trio of strikes that she says will boost the squad’s confidence ahead of Thursday night’s encounter at Cromer Park against Adelaide.

“It a statement. It definitely shows the character of this team,” Foord said.

“These type of things [the recent run of results] make or break teams and we’ve definitely taken it the right way and came out, played the way we played and got the result we needed.

“Whenever you put balls in the back of the net it feels like you’ve done your job,” she said of her goals.

“I’m just happy to get the win and we put five in the back of the net, that’s the main thing and a good confidence boost moving forward.

“We look forward to Adelaide now. Restart the week, get another win and climb our way back up the table.”

Foord said luck finally fell the Sky Blues’ way on Sunday, with the performances there all season, as she rated the first of her three goals as her favourite, in a comprehensive Sydney FC performance.

“I think my first goal was my favourite,” Foord said,

“It was a hard angle and I normally wouldn’t hit that. Especially after hitting the crossbar minutes before, it’s pretty special.

“We’ve just been unlucky in the last couple of games,” she continued.

“We’ve created a lot and the chances have been there but we’ve been unlucky. Finally, some good things fell our way and we put the ball in the back of the net.”
