Six of Sydney FC’s Westfield W-League stars have earned selected in Westfield Matildas Head Coach Alen Stajcic’s 20-player squad for Australia’s two-match ‘Seven Consulting International Series’ against Chile later this month.

Lisa De Vanna, Chloe Logarzo, Alanna Kennedy, and Caitlin Foord join youngsters Princess Ibini and Amy Sayer as the Sky Blues’ contingent in the national squad, with Sydney FC’s Westfield W-League squad to not feel their absence, having a BYE in Round 3 of the competition.

After taking on France and England abroad in October, the Westfield Matildas will return to home soil in November to play fellow 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup contestants Chile in front of anticipated strong crowds in Penrith and Newcastle.

Stajcic will welcome Westfield Matildas regulars Sam Kerr, Alanna Kennedy, Emily van Egmond and Katrina Gorry back into his squad for the ‘Seven Consulting International Series’ after they missed October’s friendly fixtures, although Alanna Kennedy may not feature in match play due to recent surgery.

Returning attacker Michelle Heyman also underwent surgery recently, though she will be considered for action after she managed 86 minutes in Adelaide United’s Westfield W-League 2018/19 Season Round 1 draw against Melbourne Victory.

Young players including Princess Ibini and Amy Sayer will continue their Matildas educations this month after the duo impressed for Australia’s senior side in October, as well as in the Westfield Young Matildas’ recent AFC U-19 Women’s Championship qualifiers played in Lebanon.

“Our upcoming matches against Chile represent a key part of our ongoing preparation for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in France,” Stajcic said. “With the draw for the tournament being held next month, it is vital that we continue to play and familiarise ourselves with a diverse range of opponents.”

“Chile performed strongly at this year’s Copa America and in October secured a win and draw against South Africa. They (Chile) will be a great challenge for us, but in front of large, vocal home crowds in Penrith and Newcastle I expect us to perform strongly,” he said.

The Westfield Matildas will go into camp on Monday ahead of their first game of the ‘Seven Consulting International Series’.

Matildas fans will have the opportunity to meet the team at two official open training sessions ahead of their matches.

On Friday, 9 November 2018, supporters will be able to see the team train and snap a selfie with the stars at Panthers Stadium from 4pm, while on Monday, 12 November 2018 it will be Newcastle’s chance to meet and greet the team at McDonald Jones Stadium from 6.30pm.

Both matches will be broadcast live on FOX SPORTS (Channel 505) and SBS TV (check local guides for details) as well as on the My Football Live app – Live, Fast and Data Free for Telstra customers.
