Semi Finals – How they work

This season, two leg Semi Finals return to the Isuzu UTE A-League Finals Series and this Friday it all kicks off with Sydney FC v Melbourne City.

Having sat out last weekend, Melbourne City and Central Coast Mariners are involved once again and there are no more second chances from here on out.

Having swept aside Western Sydney Wanderers, Sydney FC as the lower ranked team have set up a meeting with Melbourne City while Adelaide United play Central Coast Mariners in the other tie.

Last time out at AAMI Park against Melbourne City

The Semi Finals will be played over two legs with Sydney FC hosting the first leg this Friday at Allianz Stadium.

Following this match, both teams will then head to Melbourne to play the second leg the following Friday at AAMI Park.

The winner of the tie will be determined by aggregate score over the two legs.

THE AWAY GOALS RULE WILL NOT BE IN PLAY FOR THESE TIES.

Should the aggregate score be level at the conclusion of the second leg, an extra 30 minutes will be played (two 15 minute periods). If scores are still level after the 120 minutes in leg 2, then penalties will decide the tie with the winner progressing to the Isuzu UTE A-League Grand Final.
