Sydney FC defender Sasa Ognenovski says the Sky Blues are ready for their Elimination Final match against the Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium on Good Friday (kick off 7:30pm).
The Sky Blues haven-t been defeated by the Victory all season, with the last encounter at Etihad finishing 5-0 in Sydney-s favour, and Ognenovski believes the manner in which Sydney FC play matches up well against the Victory-s set up.
“You get teams like that where you match up really well against them,” Ognenovski said.
“They play a certain style and we play a certain style and it probably works for us a little bit better than it works for them.
“Every game is pretty much a pressure game at Sydney FC so I think we-re ready for the Victory and hopefully we can bring out best performance to Melbourne.”
Ognenovski said the key to Sydney FC defeating the Victory and progressing to the semi-finals lies in the Sky Blues quick build up play and short one touch passing, as they demonstrated against the Wellington Phoenix in the build up to Seb Ryall-s goal.
“I think we just need to play a bit quicker,” said Ognenovski.
“Against Wellington when we started moving the ball a bit quicker, one or two touch, I think we played really, really well. Against the Victory a few weeks back we did the same, we didn-t hold the ball for long
we didn-t carry the ball, we just one or two touch and then move.
“I think if we can play that brand of football that-s where the improvement will come.”
