Sydney FC-s full back Rhyan Grant has extra incentive to keep his place in Vitezslav Lavicka-s starting eleven with a place at this year-s Olympics up for grabs.
Grant was part of the Olyroos squad which played Iraq and Uzebekistan in November and is hoping to maintain his place in February-s upcoming qualifiers.
“It would be an unreal experience and it is one of my goals but there-s a long way to go,” said the 20 year old.
“I think we still need to win most of our games in the Olyroos before we can actually make it to the Olympics but I-m just happy to be playing here at Sydney FC now, and if I get the chance in the Olyroos I-ll try and take it.”
Grant won his third start of the season at right back against the Central Coast Mariners on Sunday and is hopeful it will become a regular thing.
“I thought I did reasonably well, I think the second half for me was a bit better and I really came into the game a lot more.
“It-s just about being confident in your own ability and really not feeling out of place.
“Hopefully I can have another similar performance [against Brisbane] and maybe a bit better and keep my spot.”
