Rhyan Grant named Sydney FC’s 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s Captain

Sydney FC record appearance maker Rhyan Grant has been named the club’s Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s captain for season 2024/25.

The 33-year-old made his debut for the Sky Blues back in 2008 and has gone on to receive many accolades during his 15-year career at Sydney FC including winning Premierships, Championships and Australia Cups along with notable individual honours.

The one club man recently signed a new two year contract extension and will begin the 2024/25 season with the arm-band, starting with Tuesday night’s Australia Cup Round of 32 clash against Oakleigh Cannons.

“Thank you very much to the staff and to the boys as well for their support,” Grant concluded.

Having been part of the leadership group last season, Grant wore the captain’s armband in Luke Brattan’s absence in a 4-0 Sydney Derby triumph at CommBank Stadium.

Ufuk Talay and the rest of the coaching staff have made the decision to name Grant as the captain, and he explained that he deserves this honour.

“I think he will honour and cherish that leadership role within the team,” Talay said.

Rhyan Grant has made 339 appearances and scored 18 goals across his 15 plus year span with the club.

He has been named in the PFA Team of the Season four times and been selected as an A-League All Star on three occasions, most recently after his efforts in the previous campaign.
