Sydney FC striker Reza Ghoochannejhad is relishing playing up front with Hyundai A-League leading scorer this season Adam Le Fondre.

Giving credit to his new partnership with the Englishman, Ghoochannejhad is confident of the goal he is seeking, as he prepares for this week’s upcoming home match against Adelaide United at Leichhardt Oval.

“When you come to a new team you need some time to adjust, but we [Le Fondre and Reza] have been working hard together every day at training and I think it’s [the partnership] looks promising,” he said.

“I think the connection is there, since the first game in Brisbane we had some good connections, of course we have to improve, but I’m really happy with the connections not only with Alfie but also Ninko and the midfield.

“We hope to entertain by scoring more goals and creating more opportunities, we have to work on that but I’m very positive that it will happen.”

The Iranian said that patience is key as he seeks to strike his first goal of the season for Sydney FC, following his loan move from Cypriot club APOEL.

Having played in three games since his signing, the Iranian World Cup striker is buzzing after last Saturday’s game against Wellington Phoenix.

“It’s been great, I’ve played three games and I think Saturday was a very important win especially after the last two results,” he said.

“As a striker you always want to score so it was really disappointing [missing chances against Wellington], but I’m getting closer every game.

“I think we created many chances. As long as we create chances as a team, then we have nothing to worry about.

“At the end of the day it’s just a game that sometimes the ball goes in easy and other days it’s hard to score a goal. I would be more concerned if we’re not creating opportunities,” he continued.

Sydney FC will face Adelaide United at Leichhardt Oval on Friday 1 March (kick off 7:50pm AEDT).
