Andrew Redmayne has been selected in the Socceroos squad for the upcoming international friendlies with Ecuador in Sydney and Melbourne.
This will be the first time that the Australian National Team have been in Australia since their World Cup heroics which saw them fall to eventual winners Argentina.
Speaking at a press event earlier this week, Sydney FC keeper Redmayne is eager to be back in camp after he was one of a select few to head to a FIFA World Cup while playing for Sydney FC.
“There’s a great cohesion with the squad and Arnie [Graham Arnold] is still there as well as all of the staff.
“Coming off the back of the World Cup, everyone was really proud of what we did but after that Argentina game we were all quite disappointed with the result,” Redmayne said.
“We could’ve got something from that game but as a whole we are happy with how we are tracking and I think football is in a strong position as a whole.”
While Sydney FC await and train for their next home match against Western United, Redmayne will be in camp with his Socceroos team-mates and this time is joined by Mat Ryan and Joe Gauci with former Sydney FC gloveman Danny Vukovic retiring from international duty.
“Having him [Vukovic] in camp was like furniture to me and it’s sad to see him go,” the Sydney number one said.
“Joe coming in is going to keep everyone on their toes and he’s constantly wanting to learn.”
Andrew Redmayne faces Ecuador in Sydney on Friday night before flying down to Melbourne for a repeat on Tuesday evening.
Robert Mak is also included in the Slovakia squad for their upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers and came off the bench in a 0-0 draw with Luxembourg on Friday morning.
He will be hoping to get more time on the pitch as he adjusts to the time difference as the Slovaks line up against Boznia and Herzegovina on Monday morning Australia
The “Grey Wiggle” and Robert Mak will be back for Sydney’s massive home clash against Western United on Saturday 1st April where three points are huge for the Sky Blue’s finals challenge.
