“Records are meant to be broken” – Retre

With the first Isuzu UTE A-League Semi-Final evenly split at 1 goal a piece, Paulo Retre is excited for Friday night’s conclusion at AAMI Park between Melbourne City and Sydney FC.

The Sydney FC midfielder has enjoyed a consistent run in the side and has become a key part of Steve Corica’s plans in the back-end of the season.

But heading into this clash, he and his Sky Blue team mates cannot wait to get into the heat of the battle

“We know it’s going to be a difficult game but we’re taking a lot of positives from the first game.

“Everyone’s just buzzing to go down there,” Retre said.

With Melbourne City finishing top of the table, they will be the favourites heading into the second leg, especially with the fact that they are yet to lose a home game this season.

“The pressure is on them. So for us, we really don’t have anything to worry about heading down there.

“Everyone has written us off this year so we will just leave that as background noise and hopefully go and get a good result,” he said.

“They have been the benchmark for the last couple of years so for any team it’s going to be tough going there.”

However, Sydney FC’s number eight does believe that despite City’s dominance, they can get something out of this match.

“They obviously have a great record at home, but records are meant to be broken.

“We know that we are a good side and if we play our best football, I think we can get a good result,” Retre concluded.

With the odds against them, Sydney FC will be hoping they can get one over Melbourne City once again this season and book their spot in the Grand Final.
