Sydney FC kicked off its 2007 Pre-Season Cup campaign with a goalless draw against Group B rival Queensland Roar in Maroochydore.
Clint Bolton kept his fourth consecutive competitive clean sheet and Sydney FC stretched its unbeaten run versus Queensland Roar to five matches despite Branko Culina’s team missing players of the calibre of, among others, Alex Brosque, David Carney, Mark Milligan, Tony Popovic and Ruben Zadkovich.
In a game of few chances, Queensland Roar had the lion’s share of the opportunities but Bolton pulled off a couple of fine saves to extend the time since he conceded a goal in a non-friendly match to 380 minutes. Not since substitute striker Budi Sudarsono scored Indonesian champion Persik Kediri’s winner against Sydney FC at Manahan Stadium in Solo City has Bolton been beaten in a competitive game.
Adam Casey, Brendon Santalab and Nikolas Tsattalios started Sydney FC matches for the first time, while Jacob Timpano played the final 25 minutes as he makes his way back from groin surgery. Culina also gave game time to a trialist, Ben Vidaic.
