Young striker Blake Powell is set for a recall to the starting line-up against Wellington this weekend, as Frank Farina heads into his first full game in charge.
The new Sydney FC Head Coach wants the speedy 21-year old to fill the gap left by injured star striker Alessandro Del Piero.
“Blake we-ll bring in, he-ll most probably start. He-s got pace and he can score; with Yau and Ali Abbas it gives us a few options,” said Farina, after Friday-s training session.
“Mitch Mallia will be involved at some stage as well so we-ve got genuine pace,” he continued.
“We-re going away from home to a place where Sydney has not had many happy hunting times and we-re going in with a certain sort of game plan. Hopefully it can work but we-ll wait and see.”
And the Sky Blues boss has challenged his young guns to perform insisting the young players must live up to the expectations at Sydney FC.
“Whether they-re young or old it doesn-t matter, they-ve got to do a job and hopefully the enthusiasm of youth and the opportunity to play and to start will work for us.
“They are professional footballers and whether they-re 19, 20 or 30 I expect them to approach the game in the same way.”
Sydney will train in Wellington on Saturday afternoon before Sunday-s game kicking off at 2:30pm AEDT.
