Sydney FC Westfield W-League Player Of The Year Teresa Polias has praised her team-mates after scooping the top prize at the Sky Blue Ball Awards Night.
The diminutive midfielder took out the award ahead of a flurry of international colleagues.
“It-s quite a huge honour to be voted by your own peers, I-ve loved the two seasons I-ve had with Sydney FC,” she said.
“I thought I did pretty well. The team we-ve got has high quality players throughout and in every position so it-s always easy when you-re playing with great players around you.”
The 21 year old is promising more of the same next season and wants a better end to the campaign than this years semi-final shootout loss to Brisbane.
“It was pretty controversial but those things happen in football and unfortunately we were on the bad end of it. Next year we-re going to come back firing and get redemption.”
Sydney FC W-League coach Alen Stajcic was full of praise for the young star, “[Teresa] was probably the most consistent throughout the whole season and has a fantastic future in front of her and hopefully a Matildas career.”
Teresa wasn-t the only W-League player decorated on the night with Renee Rollason and Kylie Ledbrook presented with framed mementos of their hat-tricks against Perth Glory.
