Paulo Retre is handily placed to give his team-mates some insider knowledge of our Australia Cup opponents Bentleigh Green.
The Sydney FC midfielder spent a season at Kingston Heath in 2012 as a youngster, scoring four goals in his 23 appearances for the Victorian NPL side.
He returns to his former club on Wednesday for a tricky Australia Cup Round of 16 clash.
Retre said: “Its going to be an exciting game, all the boys are definitely looking forward to it.
“They have come off a decent win in the last round of the cup, so they will be ready to go and they are a good side. The boys will be up for it.”
Retre believes his stint at Bentleigh Greens helped him adapt to the physical side of the game as he earned a move to Melbourne Heart following his stint in the NPL.
He added: “I have great memories of my time there. I had a good coach in John Anastasiadis; he’s now coaching with Western United.
“It put me in good stead for my A-League career playing in a senior men’s competition against some experienced players.”
Bentleigh Greens currently sit in 5th position in the Victorian NPL but have a history of good cup runs.
This is the fifth time they have progressed to the last 16 of the competition.
