Sydney FC Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo believes his side is progressing well after the opening three match weeks of the season, as the Sky Blues prepare to host Central Coast Mariners at Allianz Stadium on Friday night.
Despite last weekend’s disappointing result, Kisnorbo was encouraged by the overall performance and believes his team is continuing to develop its attacking combinations.
“Overall, the last three weeks have been positive,” Kisnorbo said.
“We created a lot of chances. I think the final pass maybe needs to be improved, but all in all, the performances have been good.”
Building Attacking Connections
The Sky Blues have shown promising signs in attack, with the combinations between the likes of Tiago Quintal, Akol Akon, Al Hassan Touré and Takahiro Sekine continuing to develop.

Kisnorbo was pleased with the relationships forming across the forward line, while acknowledging there is still room for improvement in the final third.
“The cohesiveness and the relationships of the players have been really good,” he said.
“Sometimes we might miss the final pass, or it might be under-hit or over-hit. There are things that we need to improve on and we work on those in training.”
At the other end of the pitch, Kisnorbo praised the defensive efforts across the squad, reiterating the importance of every player contributing without the ball.
“We defend from the front and we want to attack from the back. Everyone has a role to play.”
Home Support Key Against Mariners
The Sky Blues welcome a Central Coast side Kisnorbo expects to bring plenty of energy, but the Head Coach is focused on ensuring his team delivers its own style of football.
“We know they’re a good team, but the main focus is on ourselves,” he said.

Kisnorbo also highlighted the importance of continuing to reward the Sky Blue faithful at Allianz Stadium, praising the support the team has received so far this season.
“We want our fans to enjoy games and come to our games as much as possible. They’ve been fantastic support, which we are very lucky to have, and we want that to continue.”
With Friday night’s clash presenting another opportunity to build momentum, the Sky Blues will be determined to deliver a performance for their home supporters.
