Sydney FC’s Olyroos striker Patrick Wood has committed his future to the Sky Blues for the next two seasons by agreeing a new deal until the end of June 2025.
The 20-year old Sydney FC Academy graduate recently reached 61 appearances in Sky Blue and is desperate to capitalise on his contract extension.
“I’m excited to be staying for two more years and I have the belief and determination to earn a regular first team position, contributing as many goals and assists as I can,” he said.
“This is my home-town club which I am passionate about and want to contribute to taking out another A-League title.
“I have been with the first team for the past 3 years and have learned a lot from some of the best.
“I feel I am ready to take on the responsibility of leading the line.”
Wood made his debut in the AFC Champions League 2020, aged 18, having joined the club as a 14-year old in 2016.
Despite only 15 starts, he scored his 10th A-League goal against Newcastle Jets in the final regular game of last season.
Head Coach Steve Corica says the best is still to come from the striker.
“Patrick has a huge amount of talent and we will see a lot more of it this season,” he said.
“He has been involved with the squad for three seasons and his game has developed enormously.
“There will be pressure to perform and make a starting place his own, but I expect him to thrive and make the most of his opportunity.”
Wood will return to training with the rest of the Sydney FC A-League Men’s squad in early July.
