In the first half of Friday’s Big Blue, Pat Wood was shown a red card in a 1-1 draw.
The club submitted an “Obvious Error (Red Card) Application” to the Match Review Panel in an effort to have Wood’s card overturned.
In order to overturn the decision, as per the regulations, the Panel would need to unanimously find that in the circumstances, no card was warranted.
Based on review of broadcast footage and match official reports, the match review panel dismissed the application and the original red card will stand.
Obviously this result is disappointing for Patrick and the club and they will look forward to having Wood back against the Central Coast Mariners on the 10th of February.
Wood will serve his one match suspension this weekend against Western United.
