Panania RSL Soccer Club are Sydney FC’s Local Club of the Week and have won a $500 grant from St. George Bank after being entered into the competition by Under 11’s coach Anthony Di Lucchio who emphasised “family” culture and dedication to youth football as key factors to the running of the club.

Playing in the Bankstown District Amateur Football Association, Panania FC are a club where everyone bands together to see the team-s through their busy Saturday schedules, with Panania RSL SC one of the bigger amateur clubs in the city.

“The club culture at Panania RSL Soccer Club is a real “family” one,” Di Lucchio said.

“Not only is Panania RSL Soccer Club the largest in Bankstown, it-s one of the largest in Sydney in terms of the amount of teams that play week in week out.

“Everyone comes together to work and help train the youth and run the club on extremely busy Saturdays.”

Di Lucchio praised the clubs commitment to youth football, saying it distinguishes Panania RSL SC from other clubs, and he highlighted the club-s community spirit that stems from Panania-s fundraising efforts.

“Panania has a continued dedication on and off the field for the youth of the club,” he said.

“Here are Panania RSL Soccer Club, we not only develop great football players but develop great men and women off it as well,” he continued.

“We have various events held on a regular basis to raise money and awareness for our club and to provide people within our community with fantastic gifts.”

Di Lucchio was thrilled to have won Panania RSL Soccer Club the $500 grant from St. George Bank and said the kids will be overjoyed to have their idols come and visit their training session.

“It-s fantastic, it-s not only good for the club but the kids as well and it-s a great opportunity,” he said.

“The kids idolise the players on TV all the time so something like this will mean a lot to them.”
President of Panania RSL Soccer Club, Bob Bell, was equally pleased to be receiving the grant and said the money would go a long way to purchasing the club some badly needed new playing jerseys.

“Fund raising is a tough battle and bonuses such as this $500 grant are rare but greatly appreciated,” Bell said.

“Our jerseys are starting to show their age and next season we will begin to replace them. This grant will replace the strip for four grade six teams and will help us get more teams into the new strip quickly.

“Thank you to both St George Bank and Sydney FC, this is a great initiative and we’ll be sure to let our members know who’s supporting our club and junior soccer in general,” he continued.

“And of course, thanks to Anthony Di Lucchio for entering us in the competition.”
