We’re taking a look back at some of our Academy success stories to date, with the fifth anniversary of our club’s youth setup getting closer.

Sydney FC Technical Director – Youth, Kelly Cross has highlighted the following 10 players who’ve come through, or are currently a part of, Sydney FC’s Academy system.
 

Ryan Teague – Ryan started with the Academy on day one in October 2015. He was the Joey’s captain and played every game at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup. He secured a scholarship at a record age of 16 and made his A-League debut against Brisbane Roar in 2019 before being transferred to Europe with Portuguese side F.C. Familicao.

Marco Tilio – Marco started with Academy on day one in October 2015. He made his A-League debut at the start of 2020 against the Central Coast Mariners, scoring on debut, and also featured in two AFC Champions League campaigns for Sydney FC. He won the FYL Golden Boot for Season 2019/20.

Harry Van der Saag – Harry started with Academy on day one in October 2015. He’s a current A-League regular and had a huge contribution during Sydney FC’s Premiership & Championship double winning 2019/20 season.

Joel King – Played a starring role in Sydney FC’s Premiership & Championship double winning season, featuring 26 times as a left back, whilst also taking part in two AFC Champions League campaigns with the Sky Blues.

Luke Ivanovic – Luke joined Sydney FC’s Academy in 2018 before signing a A-League contract in the same year. Luke has been a consistent member of Sydney FC’s A-League squad and has scored two professional goals to date. Luke was also a solid contributor to the Sky Blues’ NPL NSW First Grade campaign in 2019.

Cameron Peupion – Cameron started with Academy on day one in October 2015. He played every game at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup before securing a transfer to Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion, and recently scoring twice in a 5-0 win over Arsenal in the U18’s.

Anton Mlinaric – Anton joined the Academy in October 2016. He played every game at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup before securing a professional contract with the Sky Blues’ A-League squad.

Adam Pavlesic – Adam joined the Academy in October 2016. He played every game at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup and was claimed the club’s Rising Star Award for Season 2019/20.

Pat Wood – Patrick started with Academy on day one in October 2015. He made his NPL NSW First Grade debut in 2020 as a 17 year old, and having recently turned 18, won NPL NSW Golden boot for 2020.

Adrian Segecic – Adrian joined the Academy in October 2016. He turned 16 this year and made his NPL NSW First Grade debut against North Shore Mariners, scoring in the process. A member of the current Joeys’ squad, Adrian is also being pursued by Croatian national team.

Aiden Mostofi – Aiden has been with Sydney FC since he was 11, starting with Academy since day one in October 2015. He turned 16 this year, making his NPL NSW First Grade debut against Sydney United, scoring in the process. Aiden is also a current member of the Joeys’ squad.
