Offer we couldn’t refuse – Corica on King

Steve Corica believes the chance to bring Joel King back to Moore Park was an offer the Sky Blues could not pass up.

The former A-League Young Player Of The Year has signed on for the rest of the season on loan from Odense BK after 12 months with the Danish club.

“He’s been overseas in Denmark and he’s sort of gone down the pecking order, so we had the opportunity to bring him back until the end of the season,” said Corica.

“He gives us good depth in that left-back position. He’s very good defender.”

King is a familiar face to Sydney FC fans, having come through the club’s academy. “The fans know him very well,” said Corica.

“He has come through the Academy and he’s been with me for my first four years before he left.”

King’s experience and success at the highest level of the sport is sure to be an asset to the team.

“He’s won Championships and Grand Finals, so he’s got a lot of experience,” said Corica. “And then he’s been in the Socceroos, and went to a World Cup. He didn’t play, but he’s had that experience as well.”

Sydney FC’s fans will no doubt be delighted to see King back in action, and the Head Coach believes that his return will boost the club’s chances for the rest of the season.

“So it gives us good depth in that position,” said Corica.
