Sydney FC Men’s Head Coach Ufuk Talay says a new player signing is on the cards very soon as he dived back into training at Sky Park this week.
The Sky Blues boss also revealed he is looking for four players from overseas, to add to Englishman Joe Lolley, and strengthen the squad with a current average age of 22 years old.
“We are very close, there is a lot of things happening in the background,” he said.
“We are looking for players in certain positions to add value to our team and hopefully in the next week or so we will have some names for the fans to see.
“We are definitely looking for a striker, someone who is going to score goals for us,” he explained.
“We are looking for a number six in that position as a holding midfielder and we are looking between the lines for a number 10; a creative player to add to the stocks of scoring goals.
“Also a central defender, we are pretty young in our backline with Hayden and Gurdy, so hopefully we can bring in an experience player in that space to help guide those boys.”
The Sydney FC players returned to Sky Park training on Monday with Talay already focusing his eye on the Australia Cup Round of 32 clash with Oakleigh Cannons later this month.
“I think we are playing against a great opposition who are doing very well in their own competition in Victoria.
“They’ve always been a side who have been in the top half of the competition so I think it’s going be a great challenge.”
The clash with the Cannons will take place on Tuesday 30th July at 7.45pm in Melbourne.
