Overcoming the first challenge of settling at a new club, Andrew Hoole has now set himself new goals leading into the Sky Blues Westfield FFA Cup round of 16 clash against Adelaide United on Wednesday night.
After notching his first strike for the Sky Blues against Belconnen United last Wednesday, the 21 year old from Newcastle has targeted hitting the net more often during the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season.
“The first few months have been good, obviously it was a new challenge and a different environment to what I’m used to,” he said.
“I haven’t changed clubs before and I’m looking forward to getting to know more about how the boys play and individually what players can do in certain games.
“It’s nice to score goals and to get one against Belconnen was good,” he continued.
“I’m hoping to get more assists and goals heading in to the season and throughout the season now.”
Having faced Adelaide United on countless occasions, the Reds are familiar opponents for Hoole and the Australian U-23 international is hoping to exploit the South Australian side’s defensive frailties in their round of 16 cup clash.
“It will definitely be a tough game, they’ve had some good results of late,” he said.
“It’s always hard to play them in Adelaide at their home ground but we’re looking forward to the challenge and it’s a good game to see where we’re at.
“I think they’ve showed in the past that their attack minded football is very good. I think defensively they have some lapses so hopefully we can try and exploit that and if we come up against them in that type of way hopefully we can break them down and bang a few goals in.
“We’re going there to try and win the match, it’s an FFA Cup game and we’re looking forward to the challenge,” he continued.
“Just trying to get the result is key for this stage of the season and we’re going there with the right mind frame and the right mindset and hopefully get the right result.”
