Sydney FC goalkeeper Ivan Necevski will play his final game for the club after eight years of loyal Sky Blue service, in front of more than 70,000 fans at ANZ Stadium tomorrow night.

It’s expected the 35-year old shot stopper will be given a rapturous send-off when he hangs up his gloves after the AIA Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking ahead of the match, the Sky Blues longest serving player said he was looking forward to the game which will be played in front of a huge crowd.

“It’s going to feel good to walk out there with my kids by my side for a last hit out with the club I’ve been playing for most of my career,” said Necevski.

“The last eight years have produced some of the most memorable moments of my life and it has been a huge honour to play for Sydney FC.

“Thanks to everyone at the club for allowing me to meet and play alongside some superstars of the world game and it’s something I will keep close to me for the rest of my life.

“I’d like to make special mention to all of our Sydney FC Members and fans for their support over the last eight years.  The Cove have been loving and supported me through thick and thin throughout my journey at the club, so I want to say thank you to them.

“Last but not least I’d like to thank my family for their love and support throughout my football career and I know whatever happens down the track they will be there for me.

“Walking out in front of 70,000 fans will be emotional but exciting at the same time, as I look to move into the next chapter of my career.

“Sydney FC will always be in my heart no matter what and I will always bleed sky blue.”

Head Coach Graham Arnold paid tribute to Necevski’s professionalism and character for what he has done with the squad this year and over his tenure at the club.

“Ivan has been a wonderful support to Vedran this season and I’m sure he will continue to play a role at this club.

“People with the integrity and passion that Ivan shows for the Sky Blues will always have a place in the heart of Sydney FC supporters.

“He has been a pleasure to work with and I’m sure it won’t be the last we see of Ivan at Sydney FC.”

Necevski was voted the club’s Player of the Year in Hyundai A-League season 2011/12 and has played 46 games for the Sky Blues including one FFA Cup tie.
