More to come from stylish Sydney

Sydney FC may have delivered arguably its best performance of the season in Monday-s Hyundai A-League win over the Central Coast Mariners, but in an ominous warning to their rivals, midfielder Stuart Musialik believes the Sky Blues have plenty of improvement left in them yet.

“I-d say it was up there. This weekend we played well and we came away with a win (but) we still missed plenty of chances and it probably could have been a lot more,” assessed Musialik after the Mariners- match.

The 24-year-old was at the heart of the action, delivering a pinpoint cross following a beautiful passage of buildup – and paving the way for Terry McFlynn-s match-winning goal.

Despite his strong personal input, the holding midfielder preferred to focus on the team performance.

“I-m happy to get the assist but at the end of the day it doesn-t come down to individual things. I think as a team we showed a lot of guts and determination.”

Coach Vitezslav Lavicka echoed Musialik-s sentiments, applauding his side for its commitment and style.

“We played well in shape, we tried to play quickly especially in attacking and scored an excellent goal,” he said.

Sydney FC-s fifth win of the season sets up a top-of-the-table clash with arch-rivals Melbourne Victory this Friday night.

Despite a very short turn-around the Sky Blues travel to Southern capital on a wave of confidence:“We-ll definitely go down there very positive and chasing a win,” said Musialik.

“It-s always a big game against Melbourne Victory (and) we-re expecting a big crowd down there,” added his midfield partner, Terry McFlynn.

Sydney-s squad will be boosted this week by the return of Kofi Danning, Rhyan Grant and Matthew Jurman from FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt, and striker, John Aloisi is also on track to come into consideration for the clash with the second-placed Victory.

The round-10 blockbuster will be played at Etihad Stadium this Friday night. Kick-off is at 8pm.
