Sydney FC Head Coach Frank Farina has named fit again club captain Terry McFlynn in a 16 man squad that will travel to Brisbane tomorrow [Wednesday], ahead of Thursday night-s crucial A-League encounter.
McFlynn has recovered from a hamstring strain and is likely to fill the central midfield role vacated by the suspended Brett Emerton, after his red card against West Sydney.
“These things happen but we-ve got the depth with Terry McFlynn back,” said Farina after Tuesday-s training session.
“He-s fit and available so whilst it-s disappointing [to lose Brett], Terry will step in.
“We-ll take 16 up with us and everyone is fit from the weekend,” he continued. “At this stage I haven-t decided completely on the make-up of the team but we-re in decent shape.”
The Sky Blues must win to guarantee a Hyundai A-League Finals Series spot. A draw or a defeat will leave them waiting on other results over the rest of the weekend.
“The good thing for us is that consistently over the last 10-14 rounds there-s been big pressure on every game so pressure is not going to affect us going into the game,” said Farina.
“That-s been a positive of our situation – every game has been huge for us and this one is no different.”
Sydney face a Roar side sitting in 5th, a team they could dump out of the Finals with a win.
Midfielder Terry Antonis will be available after needing stitches in his forehead following his clash with Western Sydney defender Iacopo La Rocca on Saturday.
“He still thinks he-s pretty good looking but I don-t know about that,” said Frank. “He-s fine though, he-s got a couple of stitches but that-s that.”
