Mathias Macallister has been named in the 23-player squad heading to Saudi Arabia for the AFC U23 Asian Cup next month.
The 18-year-old had never been called up to any national side prior to the SBS Cup which was held in Japan just before Christmas and after good performances in that tournament, he has been rewarded with this call-up to the U23’s.
The Olyroos will play three group games against Thailand, China & Iraq with the top two from the group stage heading through to the quarter finals.
All matches of the tournament will be shown live on Paramount+ in Australia, with the Aussies starting their tournament against Thailand on Thursday 8th January.
