Sydney FC travel down to Victoria on Wednesday night to face Melbourne Victory in the Liberty A-League as they look to continue their unbeaten run this season.
Ante Juric’s side are coming off the back of a determined 1-0 win over the Newcastle Jets after withstanding some heavy pressure late on in the contest.
Princess Ibini’s stunning first half strike was enough to seal the win for Sydney FC as they sit on top of the Liberty A-League ladder with 28 points while Melbourne Victory sit on 21 points with a game in hand.
Should Ante Juric’s side win on Wednesday night they will be one step closer to the Premier’s Plate.
Sydney FC will be without Maria Rojas and Paige Satchell who are both on international duty with Chile and New Zealand respectively.
Sydney FC will expect to line-up with a similar side to the one that took to the field against the Jets in Newcastle on Sunday night. Sarah Hunter could come back into the starting side while Jessika Nash could also start the match against the Victory.
Melbourne Victory will be full of confidence after easily dismantling the Western Sydney Wanderers 5-0 over the weekend. Victory’s Matildas duo Courtney Nevin and Kyra Cooney-Cross both played the full 90 minutes and scored in the contest. Sydney FC will have to be wary of Catherine Zimmerman with the American scoring twice in the match.
Should Sydney FC defeat Melbourne Victory and then Melbourne City on Sunday the 20th February, they will move seven points clear and claim the Premier’s Plate.
