Sydney FC return to Leichhardt Oval for the first time in the Izuzu Ute A-League in the 2021/22 season.
Steve Corica’s side faces the Central Coast Mariners who knocked out Sydney FC in the FFA Cup less than a fortnight ago.
Sydney FC played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Melbourne Victory on Tuesday night and will be boosted by their performance, having come back twice to equalise against the home side.
The visitors will be looking to bounce back after suffering a disappointing 3-1 loss to Melbourne City in Gosford last weekend.
Team news: Steve Corica will look to field a relatively similar side that faced the Victory earlier in the week. Callum Talbot may be given a starting chance after catching the eye coming off the bench mid-week while Mustafa Amini may get his first start for Sydney FC, ironically, against his former side the Mariners, where he spent his early years before pursuing a move to Europe. Corica will still be without his Socceroos trio in Rhyan Grant, Andrew Redmayne and Joel King who still remain on international duty.
The Mariners could hand a debut to new signing Jason Cummings who joins from Scottish side Dundee United. It was only two years ago when Cummings helped Shrewsbury Town knock out Liverpool FC in the FA Cup by scoring twice. The Mariners will still be without Kye Rowles who is also on international duty with the Socceroos.
How to watch: Sydney FC take on the Central Coast Mariners on Sunday afternoon at Leichhardt Oval. Kick-off for the match is at 4.05 pm. Tickets for the match can be purchased here. If you can’t make it to the ground the match can be streamed live on Paramount+ with a subscription.
