Match Preview: Sydney FC v Adelaide United

Sydney FC have the chance to clinch the Premier’s Plate this weekend when they take on Adelaide United at Cooper’s Stadium.

Ante Juric’s side could potentially be crowned Premiers on Saturday if Melbourne City fail to beat the Western Sydney Wanderers at CommBank Stadium which will be played prior to Saturday’s nights A-League Men’s Sydney Derby.

Juric’s side are coming off the back of a 3-1 win over Perth Glory in Launceston Tasmania.

A brace from Cortnee Vine and a well taken goal from captain Nat Tobin were enough to secure the points for Sydney FC and Tobin is particularly eager to make sure the side finish well in the regular campaign and secure home finals.

“It’s been a busy few weeks. We’ve had a couple of mid-week games lately so it’s nice to get in a full week of training ahead of this week’s match in Adelaide.”

“It’s exciting to think of the thought of becoming Premiers. We want to win the Championship as well but we’re focused on this week first and foremost.”

Tobin is aware of the threat posed to her side by Adelaide who have shown some great form of late.

“They have the two top leading goals scorers in Fiona Worts and Chelsie Dawber so we know they are dangerous up top. The focus for us is to play our own game and make sure we are focused on ourselves.”

Sydney FC take on Adelaide United at Cooper’s Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Kick off is at 4.05pm.
