Sydney FC v Melbourne City FC – Liberty A-League

Ante Juric’s side head into their top-of-the-table clash full of confidence after thrashing Canberra United 6-0 at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium last weekend.

Despite not having Matildas duo Remy Siemsen and Cortnee Vine, Sydney FC put on an attacking masterclass with Chilean striker María Rojas scoring a hat-trick.

Juric’s side has only conceded one goal in their first seven matches however, they face a huge test this week in Melbourne City who are breathing down their necks in second spot on the ladder. One to watch for the opposition will be New Zealand international Hannah Wilkinson. The striker currently leads the competition with eight goals and Sydney FC’s resolute defence will have to be switched on to contain the goal scoring machine.

Key stat: Sydney FC goalkeeper Jada Whyman will have the chance to equal Matildas great Lydia Williams’ record of seven consecutive clean sheets if Sydney FC can hold Melbourne City scoreless on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off for the match is at 5.05 pm with gates opening at 4.30 pm.

Sydney FC v Perth Glory – Izuzu Ute A-League

Steve Corica’s side will look to bounce back from their mid-week FFA Cup exit at the hands of the Central Coast Mariners as they look to get back to winning ways.

Corica revealed earlier in the week that he’s hopeful of getting back some players from injury with the likes of Kosta Barbarouses, Adam Le Fondre, Michael Zullo and Connor O’Toole rumored to be not far away from returning.

A lot of the pre-match hype surrounds Perth Glory and their marquee signing in Ex-Liverpool and Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge. The two-time UEFA Champions League winner will return to Sydney for the first time since he featured for Liverpool in an end-of-season friendly match where he netted in the 3-0 win at ANZ Stadium. Sturridge featured for 30 minutes during the Glory’s 1-0 loss to Brisbane Roar earlier in the week and the former England international is expected to see more game time.

Steve Corica illuded to earlier in the week that his side must also be mindful of Perth’s other attackers in Andy Keogh and Bruno Fornaroli.

Sydney FC fans will also welcome the return of former players Brandon O’Neill and Aaron Calver. The pair both featured for Sydney FC in the 2019 A-League Grand Final win over Perth Glory at Optus Stadium.

The kick-off time for the match is at 7.45 pm.
