Match Preview: Melbourne City v Sydney FC

Thumbnail

Sydney FC will take to ANZ Stadium as the newly crowned Hyundai A-League Premiers when they face Melbourne City FC on Saturday afternoon (kick off 5pm AEST).

The Sky Blues enter the clash fresh off a 10-day gap between games, while Melbourne City are gearing up for their first clash since entering two-weeks of quarantine after crossing the border earlier this month.

Head Coach Steve Corica’s men will be out to showcase their Premiership credentials and make up for their defeat against the Newcaslte Jets in their most recent outing.

It will be a battle of the Golden Boot prospects at Homebush, with Sky Blues’ front man Adam Le Fondre and his City compatriot Jamie Maclaren both sitting on 18 goals at the top of the charts.

Expect excitement if the two club’s previous encounter this season is anything to go by, with a 10-man Sky Blues coming back from a goal down to win 2-1 at Kogarah in December 2019.
