Mak – We can’t wait for Saturday

Robert Mak speaks to the press ahead of the clash with Macarthur FC

Robert Mak is ready for the challenge that Macarthur FC are set to provide the Sky Blues on Saturday night and is excited about do or die football.

He famously was involved in both goals in last season’s come from behind Elimination Final victory over Western Sydney Wanderers and is ready to hopefully progress once again this season against the Bulls.

Mak celebrates his Elimination Final goal

“In Finals everyone gives their all. It’s a one off game and lose and you go home.

“We need to be preparing everywhere, in attack and defence and we need to work together and score goals,” Mak said.

“We want to show that we are at home and we want to play our aggressive style of football but in football you never know what will happen so we will prepare for everything we can.

“But I can’t wait for Saturday.”

Robert Mak has been shifted around the team this season and is mostly a winger but found himself playing striker last weekend against Perth Glory.

He makes some good runs in behind and was rewarded with two goals at home last time out.

Regardless of where he plays, he wants to help contribute to the team as best as he can.

“You want to score goals as a striker, but you also have to defend as we press and work from the front.

Robert Mak scored a brace on Sunday in a 7-1 win

“Last time I played as the nine and I felt really good,” he said.

“The team is playing really well so personally I want to continue that run.”

Robert Mak is out of contract at the end of the season and he will be hoping that Saturday is not his last game in Sky Blue whether that be in the Semi Final or signing an extension which will see him remain at the club.

Despite that hanging over his head, the Slovakian has his head firmly on the task at hand.

“I’m just focusing on Saturday and my focus is on the game.

“What will happen in the future, I don’t know and in football things change every day and every hour so we will see.

“Hopefully it will not be my last game,” he concluded.
