Lowe: I want to score more goals like that

Sydney FC midfielder Rachel Lowe is looking to solidify herself in the team after an impressive outing against the Wellington Phoenix. Lowe, is hoping to continue her form heading into this weekend’s clash with Perth Glory at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium but has warned that her side can’t underestimate the Glory.

“We had a video session yesterday to have a look at them and discuss how they play and identify their key players. Obviously, Lisa De Vanna is a big player for them but Ante Juric has always said to us that if we focus on ourselves it will help us out a lot.”

Lowe scored the opener in last week’s 5-0 win over the Wellington Phoenix which was a thunderbolt strike from outside the 18 yard box and the young midfielder it’s been a part of her game that she has been working on in recent years.

“I was happy to score like that, especially in my first start of the season. I scored one like that against the Newcastle Jets last season, it is a part of my game that I have been working on. I spent a lot of time practicing those sorts of goals last season. I’m an attacking midfielder so I want to be contributing with more goals.”

With the squad’s depth set to be tested over the coming weeks, Lowe is looking to solidify herself in the starting side.

“For me, I want to get as many minutes as possible in the team. We’re a young team with good depth. Everyone is always hungry at training, the standards that we set for ourselves are very high. Everyone is pushing each other to be the best they can be.”

Sydney FC take on Perth Glory at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Saturday afternoon with the match now kicking off at 5.05pm.
