Long Serving Midfielder One Of Six Released

Sydney FC long serving midfielder Taylor Ray is among six of the club’s Liberty A-League Championship winners who will leave the Sky Blues following the end of the season.

23-year-old Ray departs after 64 appearances and seven seasons with the club, including four Grand Final appearances.

The midfielder has also won the Championship and Premiership three times and been named the club’s Under 20’s Women’s Player of the Year twice.

She looked back on her time at the club with great pleasure.

“My journey with Sydney FC is definitely something I will hold very close to my heart where the club was my family growing up into the person and player I am today,” she said.

“I am very grateful for the incredible players I’ve been able to play alongside and to have met some of the most amazing people who I can proudly call my best friends.

“To Ante, the squad all the Sydney FC staff a massive ‘thank-you’ for supporting me in the Sky Blue for the last seven seasons.”

Midfielders Darcey Malone, Zara Kruger and Lucy Johnson will also not return next season following the end of their contracts, along with forwards Teigan Collister and Aideen Keane.

Head Coach Ante Juric said: “I would like to thank each of those players for their efforts this and all previous seasons and wish them the best in the future.

“It was a long and very hard year with a lot of travel, and they all played an important part in their own way, in our Championship win.

“They should all be very proud of how they contributed and what they achieved.”

Sydney FC remain in discussions with a number of other out of contract players regarding next season and beyond.
