Lolley Ready To Continue Red-Hot Streak

Sydney FC forward Joe Lolley is in red-hot form, netting three goals in his last two games, and he’s eager to keep the streak alive when the Sky Blues face Perth Glory at Allianz Stadium on Wednesday night.

“It is great, I’m scoring goals and helping the team in that way, and hopefully that continues,” said Lolley, reflecting on his recent double against Melbourne Victory and second half strike against Newcastle Jets.

“I felt good in the game against Newcastle, especially in the second half when I got a lot of the ball.

“It was good to be able to help the team, and hopefully, the goalscoring continues and helps us going forward.”

Sydney FC heads into the match with three games undefeated momentum and a valuable stretch of home games that Lolley sees as a pivotal moment in the season.

“We’ve got a good run, with three really good home games coming up in the next four. It’s a great chance for us to put ourselves in a good position,” he said.

Lolley praised the team’s resilience in recent matches, while also recognizing the need to improve their starts.

“It’s not an ideal situation to be chasing games, but we’ve shown good character and spirit to come back, which is a positive sign.

“Of course, we’d rather be two or three nil in the lead than down, so hopefully, it’s something that won’t continue.”

Looking ahead to the challenge posed by Perth Glory, Lolley noted their improvement despite recent results.

Lolley celebrates his goal against Wanderers with a golf swing.

“They started slow, but over the last few weeks, they’ve definitely picked up in their performances and are looking a bit stronger.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game. Every game is difficult, and we’ve proven this season that you can’t just turn up and expect to win.

“You have to be 100%, and we need to make sure we focus going into this game. If our attitude is good and we play well, hopefully, we’ll get the desired outcome.”

Lolley emphasized the importance of home support in the coming weeks, calling on fans to create an atmosphere that will spur the team on.

“It does make a big difference. You see the Wanderers and Melbourne Victory games and the atmosphere that was created around the ground, how much it gives extra.

“Getting good home crowds and getting the atmosphere going will be crucial for us. It can give us those boosts that really help us over the line.”

Sky Blues could move within two points of second with a win.

With a tight A-League ladder, a win could put the Sky Blues within two points of second place and Lolley sees the upcoming fixtures as a massive opportunity for Sydney FC to climb back into contention.

“It’s there for the taking, but it’s completely down to us and how we perform,” he said.

“We see it as a massive opportunity over these next two weeks.

“If we manage to put the performances and results together, things will look a lot rosier. It’s an exciting opportunity, and we need to show it on the pitch.”
