The football stars of tomorrow will be on show this Sunday when Sydney FC hosts the annual Football NSW Champion of Champion winners parade and a National Youth League (NYL) curtain raiser before the first ever Hyundai A-League clash at ANZ Stadium.
Sydney FC takes on Perth Glory at ANZ Stadium in the A-League this Sunday but the heroes of today will share centre stage with the stars of tomorrow when winners of every age group take part in a parade around the ground at half time.
Adding to the matchday experience at ANZ Stadium on Sunday will be a NYL curtain raiser with the Sydney FC youth team taking on Perth Glory at 2.15pm.
The Football NSW Champions of Champions parade is an important annual event in Sydney FC-s Community Program with football players from all over New South Wales taking part in the activity.
“Connecting to the grassroots is an important part of what we are trying to achieve as a football club,” said Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata. “Our players have spent a lot of time over the winter attending local football clubs and now it is our turn to host them.
“The parade is a just reward for the players who have been part of the best teams in New South Wales in their respective age groups and we look forward to having them part of our matchday at what is a very exciting time for Sydney FC.”
The Sydney FC NYL team is back in Australia after finishing third in an international U21 tournament in Vietnam where they defeated the Laos and Thailand National U21 teams.
“The NYL curtain raiser gives our youth team the opportunity to experience matchday on the big stage and is a great incentive for them to continue their development,” Pignata said. “The team did very well in Vietnam and made us proud. It-s also a great opportunity for the Sydney FC members and fans to see the future Sky Blues stars in action.
“Sunday is going to be a great day with plenty on offer for the fans and we hope to see a big crowd in attendance for the first ever A-League game at ANZ Stadium.”
