Le Fondre ready for crucial back to back home games

Sydney FC striker Adam Le Fondre is back after a hamstring setback and determined to help his side climb the Isuzu Ute A-League ladder with a blockbuster clash against Melbourne City where Le Fondre and his side will be seeking payback after City denied their dream of a championship three-peat.

First up for Le Fondre and his teammates is a clash against the Wellington Phoenix at Leichhardt Oval.

“The last game I played before my injury was against the Phoenix and I managed to score in that 2-1 win. We’re under no illusions that Wellington won’t be a walkover. They are always a tough game for us and they like to play out from the back like us.”

“It’s going to be a tough game and we’ll have to be on our game because we’re entering a busy and crucial period of fighting for the premiership where we have three games in a week.”

Wellington has recently strengthened in the window by signing former Manchester United defender Scott Wooton who Le Fondre is no stranger to.

“He’s a really solid defender, I’ve played against him a couple of times when he was at Nottingham Forrest and I was at Reading. He’s a really solid player and he’s got great pedigree so it will be a great battle on Saturday.”

After Saturday’s clash at Leichhardt Oval, Le Fondre and his side will face Melbourne City in a Grand-Final grudge match at Netstrata Jubilee where the English striker will be looking to get the three points over the Melbourne side.

“Obviously we want to get the three points against them, we have both been the benchmark two sides for the last few seasons.”

“It’s going to be on us being the home side to get the job done and no doubt this game will be highly anticipated and it’s one of those games that you pencil in when the fixtures come out.”
