Sydney FC coach Vitezslav Lavicka hailed the signing of Qantas Socceroo Brett Emerton as a “great day for Sydney FC”.
The Premiership-winning coach broke from his usual steady demeanour to share in the joy of Emerton-s impending arrival as he continued the club-s arduous Pre Season training program.
“This is a great day for Sydney FC,” Lavicka said. “I am very happy that we have such a professional player, a team player, coming to join us at Sydney FC this season.
“We all know how he can play and I have been told about his good character and personal qualities and I think he will be very, very good for Sydney FC.”
Lavicka will now sit down with his Assistant Coaches, Steve Corica and Ian Crook, to work out the best way to set out his team to ensure that the qualities that have made Brett Emerton a true star of the English Premier League can be mirrored at the Sydney Football Stadium.
“I am aware of his qualities because I coached against him when I was at Sparta Prague in a European match,” Lavicka said. “He was a player I thought was dangerous and now he is in our team.
“I will sit down with the coaching staff, with (Ian) Crooky and Stevie (Corica) and we will think about how we fit him into the side.”
