Coach Vitezslav Lavicka says the postponing of Sydney’s game against Perth Glory took him by surprise.
Coach Vitezslav Lavicka says the postponing of Sydney-s game against Perth Glory took him by surprise.
The game was scheduled to take place at Campbelltown Sports Stadium tonight (Wednesday) but had to be called off after Perth-s Tuesday afternoon flight was cancelled due to storms in Western Australia, leaving the Glory little preparation time in Sydney.
“I was surprised. I think it was surprising for everyone of us but as we know in football everything can happen.
“I understand the weather conditions in Perth last night weren-t good, so it-s the reason we accepted this.”
The replayed game will take place at Campbelltown Stadium but no date has yet been set.
“We had a discussion with the staff this morning before training. We found out two possible options but we have to talk with the FFA first,” said Lavicka.
The postponement comes as a disappointment for the players, staff and fans of Sydney who were keen to keep up momentum after their 2-0 win over Brisbane.
But the coach is certain the players won’t be affected.
“We were quite confident after we beat Brisbane Roar last weekend and the boys made the final focus yesterday at Campbelltown. We were ready to play but as I said we accept the decision,” he said.
“We had a tough training session today to keep the fitness of the players up, tomorrow we have a day off and then we-re going to make the final focus for the game in the Gold Coast.”
