Newest Sydney FC Westfield W-League Signing Veronica Latsko has settled into the club nicely and praised the support both players and staff have given her since arriving.
Since joining from Adelaide United in the off-season, the American born goal-scorer has been working closely with the club as she recovers from a serious knee injury suffered in the off-season.
“The start to my time here has been awesome, the girls have been so nice, the coaching staff have been great and that’s the same with the physios.
“Everyone has been super welcoming,” she said.
“It’s going well so far, although it’s a little bit of a waiting game just because it is a knee injury and we want to make sure we’re taking all proper steps to make sure it heals all good.”
“I really can’t wait to get out on the pitch, especially with the squad we have.”
Although Latsko will miss the first few games of the season, she is confident that the side will get the better of their opponents in #BigBlue.
“I expect us to win,” she said.
“All the girls are really excited to get back into it this weekend and everyone has been very hardworking leading up to it.
“The off-field chemistry between the team has transferred over to on-field chemistry which is really positive too.”
Latsko scored nine goals in the league last season – the third most – but says she may have a hard time achieving that feat again with the players she has around her.
“I’m going to be playing with Caitie [Foord], Sofia [Huerta] and so many other goal scoring players so it might be tough.
“I want to score as many as I can but you can expect all these girls to score a bunch of goals too.”
“My main target is to get wins and if it’s me scoring them or anyone else scoring them, that’s all that matters to me,” she added.
Sydney FC return to Netstrata Jubilee Stadium in a #BigBlue double-header on Sunday 17 November (W-League kick off 4pm AEDT, A-League kick off 6:30pm AEDT).
