A heart-breaking injury time equaliser from Melbourne City’s Kaitlyn Torpey has stolen two points away from the Sky Blues, who must settle for a point after missing numerous chances.
Sydney FC 1 (Vine 24’) drew with Melbourne City 1 (Torpey 90’+4)
Moments That Mattered:
WHYMAN SAVE – 9’ – A left wing pull back falls to Galic free near the penalty spot but her low drilled shot is brilliantly kept out by Whyman diving to her right.

HUNTER SHOT – 30’ – Vine cuts inside and lays it off to Hunter who shoots first time but it’s caught by James.
LOWE HEADER SAVED – 38’ – Green curls in a left wing cross and Lowe guides the header towards the left corner but James is down quickly to push behind.
IBINI CHANCE OFF THE POST – 45’+2’ – A cross from the right to the far post is met by Ibini but Thomas-Chinnama gets her head to the ball on the goal-line, cannoning it off the post and away.
IBINI CHANCE – 61’ – Vine releases the forward who rounds the goalkeeper James but the touch takes it too far ahead of her and she hits the side netting.
LOWE CHANCE – 71’ – Lowe is released this time but James makes herself big and saves with her leg.
VINE SHOT BRILLIANTLY SAVED – 86’ – Vine runs at the City defence and switches the ball onto her left foot before unleashing a thunderous shot towards the top corner which James acrobatically tips over.
TORPEY GOAL – 90’+4’ – A left wing corner is floated over and Torpey meets it first time at the back post.
WHYMAN SAVE – 90’+5’ – Wilkinson gets free wide left and smashes it to the far post but Whyman dives and saves.
What They Said: Ante Juric: “I am extremely proud of our performance. The girls played with passion and intensity, which is so pleasing as a coach.
“We created lots of opportunities which we did not capitalise on, but I enjoyed the way we attacked and on how we had a willingness to go forward.
“Unfortunately, we conceded a last minute goal off a set piece.
“The one point is still very important at this point of the season.
“We now focus on the next match and the job at hand in the next few vital weeks.”
