Joe Lolley itching to get back out there

Joe Lolley will return to a new experience this weekend after missing the last two matches with suspension but says he can’t wait to enjoy it and make his mark against Perth Glory.

“I’m just itching to get back out there as it’s never easy watching your team-mates playing, so hopefully this weekend I’ll be able to contribute,” he said.

“How the previous match ended was pretty bizarre but now it’s onto Perth now and it’s time to start picking up results.”

Having played the entirety of his career in his home country prior to joining Sydney FC, the number 10 is still coming to grips with an away trip to Perth.

It takes approximately five hours to fly from one side of the country to the other and not to mention the three hour time difference too.

“This will definitely be the furthest I’ve ever travelled for a game so it’ll be something different and new, but it’ll be one to enjoy that’s for sure.

“It’s a tough away trip and it’ll probably be hot with factors like the stadium making it more of a challenge,” he added.

“They’ve picked up some good results recently and we know there’s no easy games in this division so we need to make sure we battle and fight and hopefully our quality shines through.”

Ahead of the trip to Western Australia, the former Nottingham Forest player took a moment to reflect on his time in Australian football so far.

“I love it here to be honest,” he said.

“I’m really enjoying myself and enjoying the football. We wish we would have had a few more results go our way but if we keep working on things then hopefully results will turn around.”
