Jada Whyman excited to see Leichhardt atmosphere

Jada Whyman has just come off the back of Matildas camp and with two consecutive clean sheets in the league, she will be aiming to make that three on Friday night when Brisbane Roar come to visit.

Leichhardt Oval is the Sydney FC Women’s home across the school holidays and they will play four of their next seven matches at the Inner West venue, starting with Friday’s match up against the Roar.

Back in 2022, Jada Whyman broke the clean sheet record at Leichhardt Oval and she is hoping to create more history this time around.

“We’ve had some pretty big and memorable games here and with the intimate setting of the ground and the fans we have been getting, I can’t wait to see that again.

“It looks beautiful after the World Cup so it is only going to be advantageous for us to have a good field to play on,” she said.

This weekend, Jada Whyman will be aiming to prevent the scoring exploits of Tameka Yallop who joined the Roar off the back of the FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign alongside Cortnee Vine.

“She’s [Tameka Yallop] a beautiful person and I love playing with her at Matildas camp but obviously it is a different setting when you play against each other.

“I’m looking forward to playing against her because she’s a very good player and I think it can show what our defence can do as well,” Whyman added.

Jada has been a fringe member of the Matildas squad for a number of years now and after just missing out on a spot in the World Cup 23 player squad, she can’t wait to build on being included in the squad for the recent trip to Canada with the national team.

“It’s always a pleasure and it gives you a boost in confidence when you get brought in.

“It’s nice that I’m just on the edge but at the same time it is also hard and there is always stuff that I can improve on to help me make that debut,” she added.

“However, I focus on my own game and our game at Sydney FC before focusing on that.”

She will be looking to maintain her consistent high performance for her club when Brisbane Roar visit Leichhardt Oval on Friday night.
