Sydney FC custodian Ivan Necevski is ready to take on Adelaide United after he was called in to replace Liam Reddy between the sticks for the crucial Hyundai A-League clash at Hindmarsh Stadium tomorrow.
Necevski, who played 13 matches for Sydney FC last season, received a call up after Reddy failed to recover from a knock to his right quad muscle he suffered against Brisbane Roar last weekend.
The 31-year-old has played 28 A-League games and is prepared to take the opportunity.
“It-s a good opportunity for me,” Necevski said. “Football is a funny game, especially for goalkeepers and opportunities always come along. Now it is up to me to take this opportunity and stake a claim to stay in the team past this weekend. That is only going to happen if I play well so I am focussing on this game and this game only.
“Being on the bench is tough but I always tried to stay positive physically and mentally so that I am ready when the opportunity comes.
“Adelaide is going to be tough. They were very good against Melbourne Victory last week and when they had a chance through a defensive mistake they took that chance and punished them.”
Sydney FC National Youth League goalkeeper Ryan Norval will deputise for Ivan Necevski on the bench.
